  • What is carbon zinc?

A zinc–carbon battery is a battery packed in a zinc can that works as both a container and negative terminal. It was created from the wet Leclanché cell. The positive terminal is a carbon rod enveloped by a mixture of manganese dioxide and carbon powder. The electrolyte used is a paste of zinc chloride and ammonium chloride degraded in water. Zinc chloride cells are an upgraded version from the first ammonium chloride variety. Zinc–carbon batteries are the cheapest expensive primary batteries and a popular choice by manufacturers when devices are sold with batteries added. They are commonly identified as general purpose batteries. They were the first commercial dry battery and made flashlights and other portable devices possible, because the battery can function in any position. They can be used in low drain or intermittent devices such as remote controls, flashlights, clocks or transistor radios. They are exchanged, in many usages, by alkaline cells, and rechargeable NiMH batteries.

  • Why is Exell made with alkaline batteries?

Because alkaline is a longer lasting performance battery over EverReady’s counterpart, Carbon Zinc.

  • Why is Mercury Bad for the Human Body & Planet?

The main problems with mercury is that at Standard conditions for temperature and pressure, mercury favors to oxidize forming mercury (II) oxide, and that if dropped or agitated. The mercury will form microscopic drops, and boost its surface area fiercely.

Mercury poses extreme environmental pollution and remediation issues because of mercury forming organic compounds inside of living organisms. Methyl mercury works its way up the food ladder, reaching high concentrations among populations of some species such as Tuna, Swordfish,Tile Fish, Shark. Mercury poisoning in humans will result from continuously consumption of tainted foodstuffs.

  • What is Lithium?

Lithium batteries are disposable batteries that have lithium metal or lithium compounds as an anode. They stand aside from other batteries in their high charge density and escalated Cost Per Unit(CPU). Considering the design and chemical compounds used, lithium cells can produce voltages from 1.5 Volts matched to a zinc–carbon or alkaline battery to about 3.7 Volts. By similarity lithium-ion batteries are rechargeable batteries in which lithium ions move between the anode and the cathode.

  • What is Silver Oxide?

A silver oxide battery is a primary cell with somewhat very high energy/weight ratio. The price of silver oxide is connected to the price of silver. They are available in either small units or as button cells where the amount of silver used is small and not a significant factor to the overall product costs, or in large custom design batteries where the superior performance characteristics of the silver oxide chemistry outweigh cost carefully thought. The large cells found some uses within the military a great example would be; Submarine.
